TPS61085: max output current and efficiency behaviour

Part Number: TPS61085

Hello,

my customer is currently doing a design with the TPS61085 and would like to know how the maximum output current & efficiency will look when If they set the output to 6V, with the input at 3.7V.

They did not find this data / graphs in the datasheet. Can you please help out with this information?

Regards,

Stani

  • Hi Stani,

The maximum output current & efficiency correlates to the switching frequency that customer chooses. The maximum output current could be estimated by Vin*Ilim*effi/Vo. Assume the fsw is 1.2MHz, the Ilim is 2A and effi is 0.82. Average input current is Ilim/1.2=1.67A. The maximum output current is 3.7*1.67*0.82/6=0.84A. If fsw is 650kHz, the maximum output current will be little higher due to a higher efficiency.
Has the customer already designed schematic well? They could use WEBENCH to simulate the efficiency curve.
