TPS659037: Changing OSC16M_CFG OTP bit

Hi,

My customer are going to use TPS659037 as PMIC for AM5728.
They have a questions about configuration of OTP for 16MHz-Oscillator.

From description of TPS659037 User's Guide to Power AM574x etc..(SLIU011F),
OSC16M_CFG OTP bit is set to 0(16MHz Oscillator Enabled), so that
I understood that external 16MHz must be populated to this PMIC to operate properly.

But my customer don't use RTC function of TPS659037, so if possible they don't want to
place 16MHz oscillator.
To realize this OSC16M_CFG OTP bit need to be set to '1' but configuration are done by TI and
user can't change this value, right?

So, they are asking that if TI will support changing the OTP configuration for the customer individually or not.
I guess it's not realistic but is it possible?

best regards,
g.f.

Hi, you are correct that you cannot change the OTP to remove the external crystal. If the customer does not want an external crystal there are 2 options:

    1. Use the TPS659039-Q1. This is the automotive rated version of the same device. It has very similar catalog OTPs that do not use an external crystal (O9039A385IZWSRQ1, O9039A389IZWSRQ1) User guide: www.ti.com/.../swcu175c.pdf

    2. Contact your local sales representative about the possibility of a custom OTP configuration. This has volume requirements that you can discuss with the representative if interested in this option.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Nastasha,

    Thank you for the reply.
I will ask to local sales person for the second option. But I guess it is hard because of the volume.
May be TPS659039-Q1 is the only option for my customer.
