TPS84620: Switching frequency set to 500 KHz

Part Number: TPS84620
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZM33606

Need 12Vin to 5Vout @ 6A power module design with 500 KHz switching frequency. 500 KHz is a mandatory requirement.

Couldn't find option to set TPS84620 to 500 KHz for above Vin & Vout. Please suggest suitable Rset/ Rrt values for mentioned specs if it's possible.

  • Hi Prahlad,

Let me take a look into what resistor (Rrt) is required to set the switching frequency to 500kHz. Alternatively the power module team recently released a new DC/DC that provides a 36V/6A DC/DC solution with a wide output voltage range from 1V to 20V and default frequency of 500kHz.

  • Hi Jimmy, do share Rst value. The application is for high speed ADC power supply where switching noise & PSRR is critical. Do suggest if you feel another device might be better suitable.
  • Hi Prahlad,

I believe Jason has taken this offline and been in contact with you regarding this. The summary was that it is not recommended to run the TPS84620 at 500kHz for a 5V output application because of the high ripple current that might trip over-current protection. The alternative part is the LMZM33606.
