BQ51050B: Capacitance on RECT pin

Part Number: BQ51050B

Hello,

I would like to know how to determine necessary Capacitance on RECT pin. Datasheet just says "Depending on the power levels, the value may be from 4.7 μF to 22 μF".

Thank you very much for the support.

Best regards,
Tino

  • Hello
The RECT pin is full wave rectified voltage from the RX coil and is unregulated. This voltage is applied to the input of a linear regulator then to OUT.
As a general rule of thumb more is better, 22uF if possible.
For charge currents 500mA to 1A recommend 22uF minimum.
For charge currents 250mA to 500mA recommend 10uF minimum.
For charge currents below 250mA recommend 4.7uF minimum.
