Required Transistor

Hello everyone!

I have a small circuit with 12V of DC and a current of 0.5 Amperes (6 W). I need to use a transistor to amplify the current up to 3 Amperes, but no more than that because I have a Regulator Power Supply (LM7812) which max current allowed is 3 Amperes. is anything available I can use? Thank you!

  • Hi Leandro,

Thanks for posting on E2E - I assume you are looking for a bipolar junction transistor (BJT), not a MOSFET.

TI no longer manufacturers BJTs, so we would not have what you're looking for.

Let me know if you there are any other options to solve the problem you're trying to address. You've probably browsed our portfolio and can see we have a lot to choose from.

    Have a good weekend,
    Jim
