TPS57160-Q1: evaluation questions

Please send a scope shot of the PH and BOOT voltage when the regulator is not providing 3.3V.
Does the application work correctly at higher input voltages?

@ Iout = ~600mA the device stops working slightly above 3.6V.

This is difficult spec to meet.
It looks like this device can not do what you need.

Be sure that your input supply is not drooping at the VIN node of the device
due to drops in the wiring.

You might try the LMR43603.
Or TPS62821 if you only need a max Vin of 5V.

for most of their applications here is their spec:

Vin: 3,6V …. 14V (typ. 5V / Absolut max. 60V)

Vout: 3,3V  / 400…600mA  (max. 800mA).

My customer made the following statement: based on datasheet the device should be able to meet the spec above. Why is the device not meeting the datasheet spec?

Is there any reason why this is happening?

I proposed TPS54160 but i‘m not sure if it’s going to work. Can you propose any other device that would meet the spec mentioned above?

Although the data sheet indicates that the device will be switching down to 3.5Vin, that
does not imply that it will regulate correctly under all load conditions at the minimum input voltage.

If you can show us the schematic and layout we may see something
outstanding in the design.

As mentioned above, you may want to look at the LM43603.
In any case the design will need to be tested to ensure that it will
meet the requirements.
