TPS61196: TPS61196 Multi-chip operation Issue

Part Number: TPS61196

Dear TI Team,

We implemented TPS61196 in multi-chip operation.

But there is a problem.

The spec we want to implement is as follows.

Vin = 24V

Vo = 36V

Io = 550mA x 2chip (550mA is IFB1 to 6 Total)

If only the master operates, it will operate normally.

However, if the master / slave is operated, the IC will make a sound and the input and output current will continue to change,

causing the FET to malfunction and the fuse to be cut off

Please attach the circuit diagram and check whether there is a problem.

Thanks.

  • Hi Youngsu,
    The schematic seems ok from my side, What's your mean of "the IC will make a sound and the input and output current will continue to change" can you provide some waveforms about this situation? and can you exchange the master and slave device to see is this phenomenon still exist? And what's the relationship between PWM1 and PWM2? I don't have much more commons on this, But I hope you do more test.
    Regards
    Sean
  • Hi Sean Zhou,

    What's your mean of "the IC will make a sound and the input and output current will continue to change"
    --> The current swings as the IC sounds.

    What does it mean to switch between master and slave?

    Can I use PWM1 and PWM2 together?

    What waveform should I attach?

    Is there a problem in the circuit diagram?

    Thanks.
  • Hi Younhsu,
    I mean you can try to exchange the master and slave device to make sure each device can work correctly. You need to make sure each device is good.
    yes, you can combine PWM1 and PWM2 together;
    I want to know the Vin, Vout, Vsw, and output current and inductor current.
    Regards
    Sean
  • Hi Sean Zhou,

    We will test PWM1 and PWM2 with connection.
    only the master is running, it is confirmed to be operating normally.
    However, problems will occur if they work as masters and slaves.
    We will check the remaining requests and ask again.

    Thanks.
