TPS92691: Buck converter with LED's referenced to ground?

Part Number: TPS92691

Team,

To design a buck converter where the LED's need to be referenced to ground a NFET driving a PFET on the high side can be used. I see i loose the over-current protection through the PFET by doing this. Can you provide guidance and recommendations on what else needs to be considered for this type of design?

  • Hi Julio,

I’ve replied to you about this already but in general the buck type topology is what we recommend in the data sheet.  The traditional Buck needs appropriate gate drive for the switching Fet because of the ground referenced gate drive along with current sensing.

    Thanks Tuan
