TPS2373: May TPS2373 can show currently working power status ti PD side MCU?

Part Number: TPS2373

Hi Sir

As we know TPS2373 can working in bt/af/at level.

May we know TPS2373 how to show what power level TPS2373 work on?(is it by datasheet table 2?)

  • Hi Chen,

That is correct, after negotiation, the PSE will let the PD know how much power it has allocated to the PD (by the number of class fingers it sends to the PD). You can use the TPH/TPL signals to the know the power level. And you can use the BT signal to know that it is a BT PSE (Type 3 or 4) that is capable of the new BT MPS timing requirements.
  • Hi Darwin

    Thanks for your reply.

May we also check as below:

    1. Does AT device(like TPS2375x series) also have the same pin can indicator currently power status?(there seems no find similar talbe in datasheet)

    2. Dose BT standard already finial?

    3. May we have output voltage over 15V(25W) reference design?

    4. Currently, customer request spec is 25W request. but customer want to know BT product have how much marketing share in currently POE product segment?(customer consider to up grade design in their product. but as i know , currently most customer still just use AT/AF grade in their product.

  • Hi Chen,

    1. A Type 2 PD really only needs to look for a Type 2 or Type 1 PSE. This is indicated by the T2P signal. If multiple fingers are presented to our Type 2 PDs, the PD should still only output Type 2 power levels (25.5W).

    2. I am pleased to say the BT standard was published end of January 2019.

    3. Let's discuss this offline. I will send an friend invite.

    4. The BT standard adds many desirable features to PoE like a more efficient MPS, and autoclass, and of course high power for full featured products. It also helps give higher interoperability between PoE devices unlike the many different non-standard high power solution in the market today. So I will not be surprised that more products will upgrade to the new BT standard.
