BQ34Z100-G1: About Design Energy Scale and Current Calibration , dose we need Current Calibration when Design Energy Scale ??

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi

Thank you very much many help us.

I have very simple question for BQ34Z100G1 setting .

Our customer battery  7s    30Ah  and   Typ Voltage is 3.8V

Yes  , This BQ34z100G1 is 1cell  base for Battery setting .

Design Energy  is    30000mAh   x  3.8V  =   114000mAhW   this value over  32767mAh .

We need scaling       114000mAh  / 4 scale   =    28500mAh        * Design energy Scale is  4

[ Question ]

If we did Design energy setting 4 ,  dose we need  Current calibration same as Scale (=divide )  is  4 ??

    * This mean  Design Energy setting is divide is 4,  and   For instance   Real Current is   4A.

       Dose we need Calibration  is 1A  ??       * Divide 4 ??

Or  Design Energy Scale dose not need  Other relation Current setting  ??   especially  Taper Current ??

Sometime we confuse for this BQ34Z100G1   Battery Setting and Current setting .

  • Hi March,

For this capacity battery, If the battery will never charge or discharge at a rate above 1C, only the design energy scale will need to be utilized.

If charge/discharge with this capacity is greater than 1C current scaling will be required. Configure the values with current scaling, for example, a factor of 2, and apply that scale factor to all values with A or W in them. If the design energy is still too large after this scale factor is applied, apply an additional design energy scale.

    Sincerely,

  • Hi  Bryan

Thank you very much about this answer.

    Yes , we understand ,  must need Current Scale over  1C ( =Battery Capacity 30000mA ).

I want to  " double confirm " Design Energy Scale with Current Scale (=Divider ).

We do not change  Current Scale  when just Design Capacity  Scale .   *  Yes , Charge / Discharge Current under   30A

    Is this correct ??

    Thanks and Regard

  • Hi March,

Yes, for design energy scale please set it in the gauge and then modify the values given in table 15 of the datasheet.

If current will not exceed +/- 30 A, current scaling should not be required.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
