BQ34Z100-G1: bq34z100-g1

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100EVM

While charging a battery at the recommeded level of charging voltage/current (14.4V/1.8A) using a current limited power supply, the charging current never diminishes to 0.  I see a residual 70 mA which never goes to 0 mA.

I am using SLVA725A (Simple Guide to Chemical ID Selection Tool (GPC)) which requires a config.txt and roomtemp_rel_dis_rel.csv.

I have a new fuel gauge chip and did go through initial cal procedure (using SLUU904A user guide for bq34z100EVM):

1. Voltage Calibration

2. Temp Calibration

3. Current Calibration (CC offset and Board offset) and then 2A load from BAT+ to PACK-)

I have not entered any Chem ID.

So why I am not seeing my charging current go down to 0? It stays at a 70 mA draw.

Are there certain default values other than Design Capacity that I need to setup at this stage of Fuel Gauge learning?

The battery does have a low SOC when I started charging it. What value of Taper Current needs to set?

In other words, which parameters in Data Memory one has to worry to start this process correctly?

Is there a specific parameter that might be causing the behavior I am seeing (70mA current draw)?

Thanks.
