TPS65094: Startup restriction

Part Number: TPS65094

Hello,

Does TPS650942 has any restriction for VSYS turn on? Does any restriction for any other power supply?

Foe example, VSYS  voltage is needed ,monotonically increasing when turn on or needed turn on till xxx us or something.

It would be helfpufl to let us know if TPS650942 has any power up restrictions.

Best regards,

Toshihiro Watanabe

  • Toshihiro,

There is nothing that needs to be done before applying VSYS. The only other power restrictions would be to make sure that V5ANA are connected to the same supply as PVIN3/4/5.

Please refer to figure 6.3.5.1 in the datasheet to see all of the sequencing on startup.
  • Hello,

The other vender's PMIC is failed to turn on when VSYS is 100ms ramp up time. 10ms ramp up was ok.

We would like to know if TPS650942 has a similar restriction for VSYS or any other power rails.

    Best regards,

    Toshihiro Watanabe

  • Toshihiro,

Thank you for clarifying. The TPS650942 should not have any issue with a slow ramp up on VSYS. The PMIC will not be able to start the boot sequence until at least 5.6V is present on the VSYS pin, but the voltage could continue to ramp up to its target voltage while the PMIC is already ready for the boot sequence.

The BUCK inputs should not have any issue with a slow ramp up as well. Obviously, the BUCK inputs need to have a sufficient input voltage before the PMIC tries to turn them on, but as long as that requirement is met there shouldn't be any issue.
