BQ76PL455A-Q1: Unable to open com port

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL455A

Hi,

I am setting the active balancing "EM1402 and LaunchXL-TMS57004 with BQ75PL455Q1 GUI". I did all modifications as mentioned in document that remove R8 and R9 and connecting to NHET00 and NHET02. I am connecting 11 cells to monitor and for 12V i am using 12V-1A adapter supply instead of 4 cells. I did load example code in LaunchXL-TMS57004 and as i am using single board i changed #define TOTALBOARDS 2 to #define TOTALBOARDS 1 as i am using only 1 EM1402 i do keep the switch at single insted of differential. I am running the code in debugging and trying to start GUI but is giving me error "Uanble to open port" one more thing is when Reset the LaunchXL-TMS57004 i.e. i am detaching the USB cable to laptop and again connecting to LaunchXL-TMS57004 LED glows for a second and then goes off.

Another thing is i tried connecting EM1402 directly to GUI using USB to TTL serial cable that time it opens. FYI i am adding one related conversation was going on community and that guy also had the same problem but it didnt solved i guess as that thread communication ended with TI guy advice with check if you have driver for LaunchXL-TMS57004. But FYI i did install driver and i can detect the serial port and i am able to upload code in LaunchXL-TMS57004.

Please help me with this i am trying this for a week. i do made all connections firm and checked the connectivity.

Without LaunchXL-TMS57004 GUI opens. Please please help me sort out the issue

  • Hi Omkar,

This is working as expected, and I believe the confusion lies in the use case for the GUI. The bq76pl455a GUI is for use when connecting directly via UART USB to TTL serial cable (without the TMS570) and the TMS570 launchpad is for use with our example code via Code Composer studio and then connecting a separate UART connection from the launchpad to the EM1402 EVM as explained in section 5.3 of the user's guide. Please let use know if this resolves your issues.

    Best Regards,

    Taylor
