BQ24600: BQ24600 Schematic Check

Part Number: BQ24600
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD18563Q5A,

Hi Ti family.

Can you please check my schematic before my prototype pcb. Especially charge current switch side. Can i control it with this way?

For mosfet, I choose CSD18563Q5A is it also ok? ( Low rds low charge)

Thank you.

  • Hi Erman,
Yes, CSD18563Q5A can be used as HSFET and LSFET. Yes, you can control the charge current by sending a control signal (MCU) to toggle high or low, and control the respective NFET resulting in the 2 different voltage divider settings, depending on which charge current you desire. You can change charge current during the CC phase of charging process as well. 2 things to note in the schematic: 1. You might observe a little overshoot and ringing at the PH node, as there is no snubber or boot resistor. To mitigate ringing and reduce EMI, you can add a 4.7ohm resistor in series with bootstrap capacitor as shown in the EVM at R30. 2. Keep in mind that for good loop stability, the resonant frequency of the output inductor and output capacitor should be designed between 17 kHz and 25 kHz.
  • Hi Kedar.

Thank you for your fast replay.

I added 4R7 and removed 1x 10uF from the output.

    Thank you for your help.
  • Hi Kedar again.

if i remove Vin when battery connected, battery voltage can damage BQ24600?
