Dear Sir,

I wanted to use the current sense point for short circuit protection. If a short circuit is happening at the output, the IC will limit the current cycle by cycle . (ie above 0.5V @CS pin) then the output voltage will drop right.

1. How can I add Hiccup mode current limit protection for LM5041.

Hello Nesh,
The LM5041 has a two stage current limit. If CS exceeds 0.5V a cycle by cycle limit is initiated. This causes the output voltage to drop.
And if the CS value exceeds 0.6V the outputs are disabled . This causes the controller to turn off the pwm and initiate a soft start .
This is essentially a hiccup current mode and is used for protecting the power supply in a severe overcurrent condition.
Is this suitable for your requirements ?

Can I set any delay time for (hiccup) On and off at a (10Hz or 100Hz) frequency until the short circuit condition is removed.

Hi Nesh,
Yes it is possible to adjust the off time. You can do this when you select the soft start capacitor.
This is not the best method of designing a hiccup circuit but it does work and it offers you the option of another protection circuit.
