BQ34Z100-G1: Chem ID does not match TI suggestion

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello,

I have a chem id tester in order to find the chem ids for 5 other cells that we use in our battery packs.

i have been running tests with a CALB 40AH cell since it has a given chem id in the battery management studio.

The CALB 40AH cell is listed in the battery management studio as CA40FI (40AH). its chem id is listed as 0437.

My issue is that my tester does not return 0437 as the best match chem id. Here are the results of my latest test.

Best chemical ID : 448 Best chemical ID max. deviation, % : 6.11
Summary of all IDs with max. DOD deviation below 15%
Chem ID max DOD error, % Max R deviation, ratio
448 6.11 0.74
6105 7.35 0.54
459 7.88 1.59
6104 8.15 1.66
437 8.7 1.23
414 9.13 0.7
457 10.71 2.42
443 10.82 0.84
431 11.16 0.53
435 11.3 0.47
464 11.92 2.52
462 12.06 2.26
412 12.47 1.6
6106 12.99 2.14
6110 13.03 0.42
436 13.12 1.58

Do you think something is lacking in my test setup? When I run the test with a new cell, should I just use the first chem id no matter what?

thanks for your help

  • The chem ID match depends on the consistency of the data. So, it will depend on the rate of dsg and even more so on the age of the cell. If you use a cell that has gone through some cycles, the resistance profile of the cell would have changed. That can give you a different match. Our suggestion is to use a brand new cell for chem ID match. If you haven't done so, please repeat the test.

In your case, I would suggest repeating the test and making sure that the current is consistent over the dsg so that the voltage can be traced over a steady load. If you still get the match with this ID, please use it.
