UCC24624: LLC topologie up to 3KW and behaviour during burst mode and short circuit

Part Number: UCC24624
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC256302, UCC28951

Hi,

do someone have used the UCC24624 duak channel synchronous rectifier in LLC topologie up to 3KW output power : 48V 45A.

The primary side is a UCC256302 controller.

My questions are  about the beaviour of the UCC24624 in Burst mode with no load and restart after short circuit .

Do the UCC24624 is still used and tested with this power and under all these electrics stress?

Thank you per advance.

Yes, UCC256302 and UCC24624 can support short circuit events. UCC256302 has multiple levels of OCP protection that help protect in short circuit events. Section 6.3.14 of the datasheet goes into more detail on the UCC256302 fault conditions.

a 3kW output power is higher than the typical power range that the half bridge UCC256302 is designed to operate at. You may have limited performance at this range. We recommend you consider our phase shift full bridge controller UCC28951, which may be a better fit for this power level. It has SR drive signals integrated in the controller.

    Eric
  • Thank your for your fast response. In my application, with 48V +- 5V output voltage, the LLC is the better way to optimise efficiency and cost and size, from my point of view with my experience of course. The nominal power is 2KW not 3KW. I would like know if anybody has used the UCC24264 withotu any issue detected.

During the development of UCC24624 we have tested it in numerous power stages to verify that it can operate without any issues. Since we have released this part many customers have successfully implemented it into their designs.

That all being said, this device is not designed to operate in 2kW systems, so we recommend you are careful with your design to make sure it performs as expected.

  • Thank you ,
I will take care on the implement on my PCB.
and I will provide you a feedback when I'll get results
