BQ25713: Which is much recommended in Solar LED Lighting between BQ25703 and BQ25713?

Part Number: BQ25713
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25703A, BQ24650, BQ25703

Customer wants to use a battery charger in a Solar LED Lighting system. The peak charge current is required to be 8A or above, enginneer choose BQ25703A at first, I suggested him use BQ25713 for more precise output voltage controlling.

  • Hey Mike,

I would recommend using the BQ25713 in order to implement some sort of maximum power point tracking algorithm for your solar application.

Both of these chargers require a host controller, and you will need a host controller in order to implement MPPT. If MPPT is not desired and you instead want a fixed operating voltage, you can use either these chargers OR you can look at the BQ24650 as a standalone option.

  • Dear Joel H,
I have told the engineer the requrement of host controller before, BQ24650 had been used in thier old products. BQ25713 is supposed to be used in a Type-C charger project and engineer commited that than BQ25703. Thanks for your kind!
