Following up on Paul Miller's question about using this controller as a buck (Jan. 3, 2018), the suggestion to use the schematic in the TPS92691 datasheet is helpful, as are the equations specific to buck circuits. Clint Jensen made the comment that there are usually better dedicated buck converter options unless there is some particular feature of the 692 that is needed. The feature I am after is the spread-spectrum frequency dithering due to the need to be compliant with CISPR 25, Level 5. Here are some other specs I need to meet: VIN = 10-48V; V(LED stack) = 6V at 2.8A.; no dimming except for gradual thermal pullback to keep component temperatures in a good area.
Given those general specs, do you have recommendations for other buck controllers?
Hi Peter,
Based on you requirement you can use the TPS92692 in buck mode or buck boost. The choice is yours on that and they will both work.
Thanks Tuan
