BQ24725A: BQ24725EVM input Q1/Q2/R1 application.

Hi Sir,

Our customer use two battery on IPC system, so need Two groups BQ24725A on PCB,

Because PCB size & Cost issue need to cost down Q1/Q2/R1, need your suggest for remove Q1/Q2/R1. any risk ?

    Based on your question, I think your Q1 and Q2 should be ACFET and RBFET. These FETS purpose is to limit inrush current when adaptor plug in. And if there is any abnormal appeared in system and battery side, BQ24725A can turn off these FET to protect system.

    As for R1, I think it should be input sense resistor. This resistor is for IinDPM regulation. The input current rises above FAST_DPM threshold, the charger will reduce charging current to allow the input current drop. After a typical 260-µs delay time, if input current is still above FAST_DPM threshold, the charger will shut down. The charger will soft restart to charge the battery if the adapter still has power to charge the battery. This prevents a crash if the adapter is overloaded when the system has a high and fast loading transient. The waiting time between shut down and restart charging is a natural response time of the input current limit loop.

    In summary, without these compoents, your system will lack some protection features if there are abnormal event happen in system.
