TPS61170: Efficient low-noise 48V Phantom Power From 9V Battery

Hello,

the TPS61170 datasheet offers a circuit for 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. That circuit looks great but I'd like to make sure that it is the best solution for my purpose. Obviously, low noise is critical for these applications and I was wondering if TPS61170 is the best choice for that? My requirements are:

very low noise
high efficiency (long battery life desired)
less than $30 BOM
less than ~15 BOM count
footprint/height not relevant

I would be very interested in suggestions or experiences regarding other solutions than the TPS61170 phantom power circuit.

Dear Sir，

What is the Vin range, Io range ? And what kind of low noise they need, could they specify it?

Dear Helen, thank you for the speedy response.

Sorry for not specifying - the input voltage would be 7-10V, noise level should be < 30 µVrms (below 100 kHz).

30 µVrms is really to small. TPS61170 can't meet this requirement.

Thanks Helen for clarifying. Would you agree that the aforementioned circuit with TPS61170 is still my best bet? Or are there other TI products/solutions I should look at?

Hi Morsch,

48V conversion is OK, but not sure of the ripple, maybe you can try to add an extra filter at the output side. Like RC, LC.
