LM78L: choose between LM78L and UA78L

Hi,

these two LDO series seems identical at spec perspective.

Some customer is using L78L05ACD, should I recommend LM or UA?

Any general guideline when choosing between LM78 and UA78?

    Both of these devices should work for your application. The devices offer the same functionality and are available as a p2p replacement for the competition device.

    Alternatively, if the customer can consider a different package I would recommend reviewing the TLV760 as a candidate to replace the competition device. 

  • So there is no preference at product line side that which should be promoted between UA78 and LM78?
    The price at ti.com shows UA78 generally is cheaper than LM78, is it correct?

    TLV760 is the preferred option as it is an improved linear regulator which offers better dropout and IQ performance compared to the UA78L and LM78L devices.

    Choosing between LM78L and UA78L boils downs to output option preferences as well as different package types. Both devices perform similarly and are available as a p2p option to the competition device.
