BQ25882: IC consumption and ADC Current detection

Part Number: BQ25882

Hi:

BQ25882 is used in the products designed by me. I have two questions to ask:

1. The product I designed is powered by battery without charging (no power supply by adaptor), with a power consumption of 20mA. I would like to ask how much power is consumed by BQ25882 chip itself?

2. There is ADC inside the chip. How is the current of BQ25882 detected?

please help to solve the above, thank you

BR

  • Hi Sunny,

The IBAT, battery discharge spec on datasheet page 6, reports 20uA max over temperature when no VBUS is applied and ADC is disabled.

The charger has sense FETs in parallel with the battery FET (Q4) and reverse blocking FET (Q1) from which it can sense the gate voltage. From the gate voltage, the ADC can interpolate the charge current and input current, using proprietary circuity.
