TPS2549: disconnect detection in DCP-Auto mode

Part Number: TPS2549

Hi Team,

When TPS2549 is set in DCP-Auto mode, when connector (portable equipment) is disconnected during DCP operation, how does the TPS2549 detect that disconnect condition?
 - TPS2549 does not care the disconnect condition?
 - TPS2549 detects some condition and becomes ready condition for next connection?
I would like to understand the operation of TPS2549 at the connector (portable equipment) disconnect condition during DCP operation in the DCP-Auto mode setting.
Thank you.

Best Regards,

Koshi Ninomiya

  • Hello Koshi,

The TPS2549 measures the current being drawn by the connected device and determines whether a device is connected or not based on the amount of current being drawn. If there is not current being drawn, then the TPS2549 will determine that there is no longer a device connected, and reassert the STATUS line high. This is shown in Figure 28 of the datasheet.
