BQ34Z950: WHY BQ34Z950 IS COSTLY THAN BQ20Z655-R1?

Hello

I am using Gas Gauging IC BQ34Z950 but it is costly, Comparatively I also find BQ20Z655-R1 , It is in low cost as compare to BQ34Z950 and specification of both IC"s are same and Pin to Pin functions are also same then why this cost difference? Anyone Please help me and tell me the reason behind it.

The gauges have different cores, afes. If you find the same functionality with both, you can go with the lower cost gauge. However, if your design is new, we recommend the bq40z50-r2 as it has many gauging improvements.

Thanks for Reply, I agree gauges have different cores, AFEs but I am trying to find out specific valid reason behind it. can you have any Idea?

Sorry, it's just that when newer devices are released they usually have power improvements (reduced sleep current, reduced leakage etc) or smaller size or package. Other than that I'm not aware of any other reasons why it would be the same.
