TPS59641: /CSKIP and /GSKIP terminal of TPS59461

Part Number: TPS59641

Hi

Please let me ask you about TPS59461.
If /CSKIP or /GSKIP pin is left OPEN, what kind of behavior of the IC? Is it ok to leave OPEN these pins?

Best regards,
Yokota

  • Hi Yokota,

I did not find TPS59641 datasheet online.
I will check with team if this is our part.

    Thanks

  • Hi Yokota,

The resistor to ground on these pins in a pinstrap selection for OSR/USR thresholds. These are transient response tuning options. I recommend to have place holders for pull-down to ground and pull-up to VREF so you can try with different options if needed. Leaving the pin OPEN disables USR and selects the least aggressive OSR threshold (610mV). This may be OK for your application, but unless you are sure, it would be better to leave placeholders. Also SKIP# should be connected to the driver SKIP# pin to enable operation in the different PS1,PS2 states defined by Intel. Without the SKIP# pins routed, this controller cannot do auto-skip mode.
