LM5160-Q1: Boot resister of LM5160-Q1

Part Number: LM5160-Q1

Hi

My customer evaluate LM5160-Q1 as Fly-Buck converter.
They are trying to reduce the radiated noise on thier board.
They put the resister in series with boot capacitor.
Are there the recommending value of that resister?

Best regards,
Yokota

  • hello Takahiko,

You can try a 5 to 10 ohm resistor in series with the Boot capacitor.

You can also try a RC snubber from Switch to Gnd. Try a 1 ohm and a 100p from Vsw to Gnd. Can start increasing the 100pF to 1nF gradually to obtain more noise attenuation. Watch the power dissipation in the 1 ohm as you increase capacitence. May have to use a larger size to disspate heat depending on the input voltage. The power dissipation in the 1 ohm is equal to C*V^2*Fsw. Where C = snubber cap, V = Input voltage and Fsw = switching frequency.

    Hope this helps?
