TPS65218D0: SEQ Down

Part Number: TPS65218D0
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218

Hi,

My customer is evaluating the TPS65218D0 with AM335x on their board.

The TPS65218D0 arise SEQ Down during working.

According to  the datasheet, I'm understanding that it is caused by one of the below red line rectangle.

So I think that we can find the problem if we check these item(PGOOD, VIN_BIAS, etc).

Is my understanding correct?

Please let me know if there is another considerable cause.

(By the way, SEQ down does not happen in the case of TPS65218B1.)

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Kuramochi-san,

Yes, please check these conditions, VIN, PG, PWR_EN, and provide scope shots if possible if the device is still acting unexpected.

    Best Regards,

  • Kuramochi-san,

Did you make any modifications to schematic for TPS65218 (-B1 silicon) to workaround the start-up issue on DCDC4? If so, you can remove the additional capacitance or diode added as a workaround. Please share a schematic so we can confirm.

The VPG limits on TPS65218D0 are tighter than -B1, because the original silicon did not meet the target spec for VPG. Please check if PGOOD go low unexpectedly. If so, you need to identify with DCDCx converter is out of tolerance.
