TPS40055: Simulation tool

Hi team,

The customer is considering using TPS40055 for below requirements, but it seems there is no simulation model in Webench for this part. Could you provide any simulation tools for TPS40055? And also, could you let us know if you have any other recommended part for the requirements?

Requirements;

- Input voltage: 24V+/-10%

- Output voltage: 12V

- Output current: 5A(max)

- Ta: 55degC (Air-cooling is not expected by FAN for CPU)

- Use-case: Power supply for PC mother-board

Please let us know about the simulation tool for TPS40055, and other recommended parts if you have?

Hello Jun,

Correct, WeBench is not available for this device. but there are simulation tools that can be found on the tools and software tab. see link below.

However, I recommend using the LM25145 as the preferred controller to replace the TPS40055 as the LM25145 is a much newer device.

Hi David-san,

Thank you for your answer. Regarding LM25145 you proposed, the EVM seems to be LM5145-EVM on TI.com. Is the EVM available for also LM25145 with direct replacement?

Hello Jun,

Please use the LM5145 for evaluation, its the same part with a different Vin rating only.

Dear collegues,
once upon the time there was a very nice software design tool for TPS40055 - "TPS40K". I have used it in 2006 for my project and was very happy with it.
This week I have tried to get it again. The answer of TI is follow:
"Unfortunately this software is no longer support or available."
Sorry, what a shame....
