LM317A: Minimum specification for adjustment current

Part Number: LM317A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM317,

Hi team,

Could you give me comments on minimum specification for the adjustment current? Also, is it the same spec with LM317? Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hi Takeshi,

Neither LM317A nor LM317 have a minimum specification for Iadj.   This should not be a concern though as a lower adjustment current will yield a more efficient and accurate solution.  The solution will be more accurate because as Iadj decreases, the impact that Iadj has on the output voltage also becomes more negligible.

As such, we recommend that customers use the maximum specification when designing their applications.  We do also provide a typical characteristic curve that shows how temperature impacts Iadj:

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
