LM25180-Q1: Can LM25180 support 12Vin to 12Vout/1A

Part Number: LM25180-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25180

Hi,

Our customer require 12V battery (low to 11V) input for 12V isolated output. And the output current is around 0.8A to 1A.

Can LM25180 support it or not?

Or how much output current can LM25180 support this spec, thank you.

C.T.

  • CT,

The maximum output power of the LM25180 depends on the the input voltage and the transformer turns ratio.

At 12VIN with a 2:1 turns ratio transformer, the maximum output power is only 5W so it will not be able to support 12V 1A.

A higher turns ratio is not recommended because of the duty cycle requirement.

The Quickstart design tool, found here under "Development tools" is useful for this.
