TPS7B69: SOT223 - what if pin 2 (GND) is not connected?

Part Number: TPS7B69

Due to circumstances of the layout, pin 2 of the SOT223 (DCY) TPS7B6933 cannot be connected to ground. What are the compromises, if any, will this application incur? Are all the parameters in the datasheet guaranteed?

Thank you!

  • Hi Lenio,

Pin 2 and 4 are internally shorted for the DCY (SOT-223) package of TPS7B69-Q1. As such, pin 2 must not be on any net but GND. If you are floating pin 2 in your application, your application thermal performance may be degraded as the primary heatsink for TPS7B69-Q1 is the GND plane of the PCB; however, you will not see any other degradation in performance.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
