CSD15380F3: SMD vs NSMD Recommended Land Pattern

Hello,

With regard to the CSD15380F3 recommended land-pattern, I see that TI suggests using a SMD pad.   

Is there a particular reason that they are requesting the SMD pads instead of the more common NSMD pads?

    Hi Don,
    Thanks for the question. Referring to the FemtoFET SMT guidelines I pointed you to in the other post, it states on page 2:

    SMD (Solder Mask Defined) pads are preferred over NSMD (Non Solder Mask Defined) pads to avoid issues due to solder mask registration error when surface mounting FemtoFET.

    Reading further on the same page, it has some precautions when using NSMD pads. Hope this helps.
