BQ2970: How to add enable pin? Restart after short circuit?

Part Number: BQ2970
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD17306Q5A

Hi!

1. I need to add a function of enable and disable of BQ2970 by external signal. If BQ2970 is disabled then output voltage has to be 0V. If BQ2970 is enabled then it works in normal mode.

I am asking of the best way how to do it. I am thinking of three solution:

a) Connecting / disconnecting the "Vss" (pin 4) by external Mosfet N transistor.

b) Connecting / disconnecting the "BAT" (pin 5) by external Mosfet P transistor.

c) Connecting / disconnecting signals "Cout" and "Dout" by external transistors

2. The second question, why PCM try to reset output few times before permanently shut down? The CSD17306Q5A transistors are used in my solution. The two 5,1M Ohm resistors are assembled.

Yellow - cell voltage

Green - discharging current (voltage drop of 5m Ohm resistor)

Blue - short circuit signal

  • Hi
for 1, i think C might be a better option
    2. not sure what is going on but it look s like some form of hysteresis. Perhaps what is happening is that the sc occurs and the chip trips, then recovers, then trip and continues until it finally it stays off. Pls see what the recovery mechanism is for SC from the data sheet and see what can be done to prevent it from recovering.

    thanks
