BQ77PL900: BQ77PL900 and cell balance in Stand-Alone mode

Part Number: BQ77PL900

Dear colleagues,

Could you please help me to read BQ77PL900 datasheet? :)

It stands that CBEN bit is set to 0 by default, which disables cell balancing. But if we want to work in pure stand-alone mode, without any host controller on board, how could we turn it to 1 and enable cell balancing then?

  • Hi Nikolay,

The CBEN bit is located in one of the registers that can be programmed to EEPROM. The EEPROM should be used to configure all of the protection thresholds and delays as well as any other configuration bits that are desired for stand-alone mode. The EEPROM can be programmed in the production flow so that no host controller is needed in the application.

    Best regards,
    Matt
