LM5141-Q1: Dimensioning of D1 bootstrap diode in power supply rating from 7A to 10A

Part Number: LM5141-Q1

Hi Team,

my customer has reached out to me regarding the dimensioning of D1 bootstrap diode of LM5141-Q1. There is a similar post to this however the rating is different to my customers which is why I'm asking it for them here.

LM5141-Q1 is used as a first stage resource, currently only supplying a high performance automotive processor. They plan to supply 3V3 on other devices on their system as well. The power supply would be able to supply from 7A up to 10A.The maximum current and voltage they measured were quite far from these specs. Could they potentially use a smaller diode like V10PM15 (VRRM 150V)?

Adding their measurements - they have current peaks through this diode; small transient peaks of +- 2.4A.

Could you recommend the correct dimensioning for D1 here?

Thanks,

Sally
