BQ24157: WD/temperature protection/I2C signal

Part Number: BQ24157

Hi team,

We have some questions about the BQ24157 in below.

1. In the datasheet, safety timer and WD timer is disable, so the BQ24157 is no WD function, right?

2. In the datasheet bit B7, not very understand. For temperature protection, the BQ24157 will self detect and then do protection or need to control by SW?

If need to control by SW, how to control?

3. In the datasheet, there is not saying too much to I2C signal level. Is that can be pull up with a resistor to 3.3V? Or just can pull up with a resistor to 1.8V?

  • HI Zoe,

Regarding 1, yes, BQ24157 has no WD timer or safety timer.

Regarding 2, the BQ24157 has thermal regulation starting at 120 C ( TCF in datasheet). If that is too high, then the customer would need to add a temperature sense circuit and write software to monitor that temperature and reduce charge current and/or input current limit to reduce die temperature. To which register B7 are your referring?

    Regarding 3, the I2C levels are 1.8V to 3.3V.

    Regards,
    Jeff
