BQ24650: Help for designing my own Solar Charge Controller

Hai, I made a board for BQ24650 to be used as charge controller for my 12V lead acid battery. i used the design from the pdf #SLUU444A and made changes for lead acid battery from #SLVA437A.

I gave a common ground for all, but in #SLUU444A they use an Earth Ground and also a common marked as 1.

will that be the reason my circuit is not working?

What do you mean by your circuit is not working? Is there a specific issue you have observed, that you can give me more information about so we can analyze further?

Thanks Kedar for the reply.

1.The issue is the the battery is not getting charges. the red led is on all the time.

2. And the ground and common are the same. Is that a problem?

3. I am testing with a 30V Dc supply. Once i turn on the circuit and check the connectivity, PH and HIDRV are connected and LODRV get shorted with negative. once turned off, its not

Hi Prebin,

You need to use 2 separate ground, one for analog ground and one for power ground which is what the app note shows. You can follow the BQ24650 EVM schematic as well (found on the user guide) which shows how to connect the 2 ground layers. Also refer to section 11 of BQ24650 datasheet when laying out your board.
