BQ24250: BQ24250 - EN1, EN2 and Vdpm..

Part Number: BQ24250

For my project I try different charging chips, I have questions about the BQ24250 IC:

1) Do Vdpm values need to be set by resistors R1 and R2, or is this value set by bits B0-B2 in register #5?

2) Pins EN1 and EN2 - the levels on them do not affect the charging current, why? Because I configured the IC via the I2C bus?

3) Did I understand correctly that the BQ24250 cannot determine the type of charger and use the B4 bit (DPDM_EN) is not necessary?

  • Hi Marta,

Regarding 1, the default values are set by VDPM resistors (depending the EN1/EN2 settings) but you can change from those values using I2C registers.

Regarding 2, EN1/EN2 set input current limit default values but those can be overwritten using the I2C registers.

Regarding 3, the BQ24250 does not have D+/D- pins and so B4 is not functional.

  • Jeff, thanks.
This means that the parameters written to the registers of the chip take precedence over what is set by default by resistors and levels on the pins, right?
  • Marat,

Yes, that is correct. Keep in mind the watchdog timer needs to be periodically written to or disabled in order to prevent return to the default parameters.
