TPS40210: audible noise while operate in DCM

Part Number: TPS40210

Hi,

The audible noise comes out while operate in DCM, if loading increase and makes TPS40210 to CCM, then no more audible noise.

Is there any way to keep it in CCM? Thank you.

Here are the waveform:

DCM (Iout=0.0967A)

DCM going to CCM (Iout=0.13A)

CCM (Iout>0.13A)

Schematic:

Please help on this case, thank you very much!

  • Hi Chentsu,

Thank you for using the TPS40210. It employs a diode for rectifier so there will always be DCM if you reduce the load. A properly designed circuit should remain stable even in DCM.

Your C15 (0.22uF) seems too big. Please change it to 1000pF (or 1nF), and see it the problem is resolved.

    Thanks,
    Youhao
