LMZ30604: Can this be a good replacement for EN6347QI 4A Power SoC?

Part Number: LMZ30604
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPSM84424, TPSM82480

Hi,

I would like to verify if LMZ30604 would be a good part to replace EN6347QI which is a 4A Power SoC? Are there anything we need to take note of with regards to this recommendation? Please advise.

Regards,

Leo

  • Hello Leo,
    The LMZ30604 will work well.
Also, I would also recommend looking at the TPSM84424 if the input voltage is 5V.
Let us know if you need anything else.
    Cheers,

  • Hi Denislav,
Upon looking into the datasheet, I noticed the light load efficiency is not as good compared to EN6347QI. So far I've yet to decide the max current for my application but I'm curious if we can switch power module mode upon light load & switching automatically to PWM upon heavy load? Please advise.

    Regards,
    Leo
  • Hello Leo,

Does the application require light load efficiency?
If yes, the TPSM82480 may also be a good option, it can deliver up to 6A and it does have a mode pin to change the mode of operation.

The TPSM84424 and LMZ30604 switch at constant frequency and the tradeoff is lower efficiency at light load.

    Cheers,
    Denislav
