1. In case of any failure or maloperation, does this IC fail as a short or open ?

2. Is this reliable as a replacement for fuse or is it meant only as an additional protection ?

Hello Venugopal,

By failure do you mean failure of the device or an overload, overvoltage or over-temperature event?

In case of overload, overvoltage or over temperature event, the device turns off the internal FETs to disconnect the load from input and there are auto-retry and latched variants available for TPS2662 devices

Hi Lokesh,

I mean, if due to any reason, the device fails, does it isolate the load by opening itself, or does it fail as a short?

I want to evaluate how reliable this IC is when used as a primary protection device.

TPS2662 devices can fail either open or short.
