Asking for the 12V 2:1 power switch recommendation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2121

Hi Team,
Customer is looking for the 12V 2:1 switch recommendation.

Would you please recommend the proper solution for this?

the power switch is 12V/2A. 2:1

SHH

  • Hi SHH,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

This looks like a perfect opportunity for the TPS2121 Power MUX. This device can support voltages up to 22V, and has additional safety features such as thermal shutdown, controlled slew rate, current limit, and overvoltage protection.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang

  • Hi Arthur,
if customer would like to use MCU to control the switch, just connect GPIO to SEL pin. right?
Any other pull up or pull down circuit required?

What is the OV suggest for 12V/2A case?

    BR,
    SHH

  • Hi SHH,

Correct, the GPIO can be connected to the SEL pin. As long as you can toggle SEL above and below VREF (1.1V), it should be fine.

The OVx voltage will be up to your own configuration. If there's the potential for the input voltage to rise out of spec, then I suggest configuring the OVx as such. In some scenarios, OVx isn't required.

    Thanks,
    Arthur
