UCC28064A: About selection of inductor

Part Number: UCC28064A

Hi,

I am considering using the UCC28064A device.
The specifications are below.
I have selected an inductor, but in my specification I also assume a DC input.
In that case, how should I calculate equations (19) to (23) of the data sheet?
I attached the data sheet of the WE-Midcom inductor that I selected.
Can this product be used in my specification?
(specification)
VIN: AC 85 V to AC 265 V, DC 88 V to DC 380 V
VOUT: DC400V 0.5A (at light load: about 0.02A)
  • Hi Kaji@PAN,

You can use this device for either AC or DC input. For the inductance calculation, use the highest input voltage for your application (380V) instead of the sqrt(2)*Vin_max term in equation 19. In equation 20, use the lowest input voltage your application will see (88V) istead of the sqrt(2)*Vin_min term. For equation 22, use 85V. For equation 23, I would assume uniform sawtooth waveform for the inductor current with minimum DC input so use I_Lpeak/sqrt(3).

    Best Regards,
