ISO5452: Isolated Gate Drive Design.

Hello friends,

I am planning to use the isolated gate driver - ISO5452 in our gate driver design circuit. I wanted to know the conditions on pins namely - OUTH. I am planning to use IN+ and IN- will be connected to digital ground.

The conditions on rest of the pins is as follows:-

1) RST and RDY pins are high.

2) IN+ is connected to GPIO with no input, mean to say it is floating. IN- is not used and connected to digital ground.

What will be the output on OUTH and OUTL pins with the above given conditions?

Hello,

Under the stated conditions, i.e. RDY is high and RST is high, IN- is pulled to GND and IN+ is floating, then the output will be low. IN+ is pulled down internally by a pull-down resistor. This means OUTL is low and OUTH is high-Z.

So if i drive a totem pole transistor at the output of ISO5452, with the same above condition (IN+ floating and IN- gnd) then i will have negative output voltage at the output of totem pole transistor.

Please comment on the same.

Hello,

If you are using a negative voltage at VEE2, then when the device is driven low the output OUTH/L will be a negative voltage. If you are using a totem pole buffer, such as it is shown in ISO5452 datasheet Figure 57, then you will also see the output of the totem pole buffer driven low to a negative output voltage.
