TLC59581: Interfacing with parallel controller

Part Number: TLC59581

Dear experts,

I am designing LED display module using TLC59581. I would like to interface it with receiver cards. I noticed that the standard output or most common output of receiver card is HUB75 and it outputs 3 parallel data R G and B. I also noticed that in standard LED display module, it follows the receiver card providing parallel data input for R G and B. However, in TLC59581 the driver receives data through serial or SPI. Does this mean that an additional shift register is needed to convert the parallel input of R G and B to a single serial data input ? Thank you and looking forward to your reply.

Regards,

Reno

  • Hi Teno,
    Yes, you are right.

There is no need three data wires for TLC59581, since the data register is 48 bits for RGB data. the receiver needs to combine the RGB data into one wire and meet the protocol of TLC59581.

    Regards,
    Shawn.
