LMZM33604: INTERNAL LDO

Part Number: LMZM33604

Hello

1. Internal LDO

Could you tell me how muc efficency imporve if the internal LDO is used?

Best regards,

Tetsuro

  • Hello Tetsuro-san,

The overall efficiency improvement will depend on the operating conditions (switching frequency, input voltage, output voltage).
Can you please provide the application conditions?

    Cheers,
    Denislav
  • Hi Tetsuro,

Powering the internal LDO through the external BIAS_SEL pin will increase the efficiency as much as a couple of percentage points. It will all come down to what your operating conditions are.

Can you provide me with the following info: What is your input voltage, output voltage and output current? Are you tying your BIAS_SEL to Vout or an external power source? If an external power source, then what is the voltage?

    Regards,
    Alejandro

  • Hello Denislav and Alejandro

Thank you for you comment. Here is application condition.

    Input Voltage: +24V
    Output Voltage: +5V
    Output Current: 4A(max)

    Best regards,
    Tetsuro
  • Tetsuro,

The image attached below demonstrates typical bench test data  from an EVM for your application conditions. At a max load (4A) there is about a 1% efficiency increase when BIAS_SEL is connected to an external power source. Notice that at lower loads applying an external power source to BIAS_SEL can increase efficiency about 3%.

    Regards,
    Alejandro
