TPS61193: Minimum brightness dimming frequency

Expert 3250 points
Part Number: TPS61193

Hello,

The minimum PWM input frequency specified in the datasheet is 100 Hz. What happens if the frequency is 90 Hz? Is it still OK to use 90 Hz?

Many thanks,
Esa

  • HI Esa,
I'm afraid the 90Hz may cause some problem at low duty cycle. So please use the evaluated PWM frequency range.

  • Hi Esa,

Sorry for the mistake, I have mixed the direct PWM dimming and internal PWM dimming. For TPS61193, it supports the direct PWM dimming, which means the input PWM signal will directly control the output current with the same frequency and duty cycle. Although our datasheet has mentioned the minimum input frequency is about 100Hz, but you can use the 90Hz as well, but it may flick at low frequency since our eyes may observe the flick at low-frequency dimming.
