LM5161: does reverse polarity protection diode help attenuate conducted emi too

Part Number: LM5161

Can one avoid low pass filter at input of dc dc converter to contain conducted emi, if there's reverse polarity diode protection included at input.

As diode would be anyways blocking !

  • The diode you highlight is for reverse polarity protection and only that.
The ideal diode is assumed toonly allow current to flow in one direction if forward-biased.
The real diode's basic, AC equivalent circuit model will be a resisitive component in parallel with the capacitive component of the diode. The diode will provide negligible amount of attenuation on the AC components conducted in the input path.

A useful resource for passing conducted EMI can be found here: www.ti.com/.../snva755.pdf
