UCC29002: Clarification of Previous Response to Startup Logic / Datasheet Errors

Part Number: UCC29002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC39002

I also noticed the datasheet error that Alex mentioned but I found the final answer confusing because it seems to contradict itself:

"Hello Alex,
This is an error in the datasheet. The UCC29002-1 does not have the startup logic.
An earlier version of the datasheet (SLUS495H) correctly stated this. The datasheet was revised (SLUS495I) and this error was introduced.
Thank you for pointing this out !
For most application it is probably best to used the UCC39002/UCC29002 because:
(1) Startup in a known state
(2) Module forced full on to engage in load sharing asap
(3) Output of module adjusted high
(4) At 80% of LS the ADJ amp reverts to normal operation"

The first part of the response indicates that the UCC29002-1 doesn't have the startup logic but then the list at the end of the response (e.g., item (2) and the others) indicates that the UCC29002 _does_ have the startup logic. Is this because the UCC29002 and UCC29002-1 are truly different parts? My impression from the datasheet is that they're the same die in different packages.

Please clarify...

Thanks in advance,

Scott

  • Hello Scott,
The only error in the above extract is that the UCC29002/1 is mis-identified as the UCC29002-1.
The UCC29002-1 is a non existent part.
It was probably misidentified in the original posting and the mis-identification continued.

The UCC29002 has a startup logic feature and the UCC29002/1 does not have a startup logic feature.

    Regards
  • John,

Thank you for your response. So, it sounds like the differences among the three parts boil down to:

    1. UCC29002: has startup logic feature, temp range -40 to 105 deg. C, available in DIP, SOIC, VSSOP
    2. UCC29002/1 does not have startup feature, temp range -40 to 105 deg. C, available in SOIC only
    3. UCC39002 has the startup logic feature, temp range 0 to 70 deg. C, available in DIP(maybe?), SOIC, VSSOP

And there is no (longer a?) UCC29001.

Datasheets are always a challenge, IMHO... :)

    Thanks again,

    Scott
